How Pyre Fitness collects, uses, and protects your information — written to actually be read.
Last updated: June 17, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Pyre Fitness ("Pyre Fitness," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Pyre Fitness mobile application and related services (the "App").
Pyre Fitness is operated by Pyre Fitness LLC, the developer and legal entity responsible for the App. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us any time at support@pyrefitness.com.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Pyre Fitness.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the App's features. Depending on how you use Pyre Fitness, that may include:
Account information
- Your name, username, and email address. During signup, date of birth is used only to confirm that you are at least 13; your full date of birth is not stored, and only an age-verification marker is retained. A phone number is optional — you may add one to help friends find you, but it is never required to sign up or use Pyre.
- Profile details you add, such as a profile photo, title, or display preferences.
Health & fitness data
- Workout data — exercises, sets, reps, and logged weights.
- Body metrics — body weight and body measurements you enter.
- Progression data — XP, levels, attributes (STR, AGI, END), streaks, quests, and other in-game stats derived from your activity.
- Heart rate (iOS only) — when you connect Apple Health on an iPhone, the App reads heart rate for your runs and workouts (for example from an Apple Watch) and may display your average heart rate on post-run and post-workout summary and share images. Heart rate is not collected on Android.
Location data
- Precise GPS location is collected only during active run sessions, including when an active run continues in the background, so we can map your route, distance, and pace.
- We do not track your precise location when you are not in an active run.
Camera & photos
- Photos you capture or upload for profile pictures, shared workout and run images, and AI meal-scan photos.
- Camera access is used for taking meal-scan and feed photos and is only active when you use those features.
- Meal-scan photos are sent to our AI provider, Google Gemini, for nutrition analysis. These meal photos are not retained on our servers after the analysis is returned to you.
Contacts & social graph
- If you grant permission, we use the email addresses and phone numbers in your device contacts transiently to find friends who are already on Pyre and help you build a squad. This is optional, used only to suggest connections, and we do not store your contact list wholesale.
- You can also invite contacts who are not yet on Pyre. Tapping Invite opens your phone's Messages app with a prefilled text — you choose whether to actually send it. Contact matching and invite handling happen on your device; we do not store your contacts or send any messages on your behalf.
User content
- Feed posts, comments, stories, and challenge or squad activity you create within the App.
AI prompts & processing data
- Text prompts and chat logs from interactions with our in-app AI assistant, Pyro, and the inputs (including meal images) used for AI meal-scan processing. Text prompts and meal images are processed by our AI provider, Google Gemini, to generate responses and macro estimates. Meal images are not retained on our servers after analysis.
Purchases & subscription state
- Subscription and purchase status processed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and our subscription provider RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by Apple and Google.
Diagnostics & crash data
- If enabled, diagnostic, performance, and crash data collected through Firebase Crashlytics to help us find and fix bugs. This data is used to improve stability, not to identify you for advertising.
Device & network information
- To keep Pyre safe and enforce our Terms, we collect a device identifier provided by your operating system (Apple's identifier-for-vendor on iOS, or an Android device identifier — not an advertising ID) and your IP address when you sign in and use the app. We use this strictly to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and ban evasion, and to secure the Service. It is never sold and never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate core features — the Lair, quests, campaigns, workouts, run tracking, trails, food tracking, and squads.
- Calculate XP, levels, streaks, attributes, leaderboards, and other progression.
- Map your runs and surface nearby trails and routes.
- Power AI features, including the Pyro assistant and AI meal scanning.
- Manage your account, subscriptions, and entitlements.
- Keep the App secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug problems.
- Send you service messages and, where permitted, product updates you can opt out of.
- Comply with legal obligations.
The data we collect is linked to your account and used only to provide and operate the App's features. We do not use your data — including health, fitness, location, photos, or contacts — for cross-app tracking or for advertising.
4. Health & fitness data (HealthKit / Health Connect)
If you choose to connect Pyre Fitness to Apple Health (HealthKit) or Android Health Connect, the App reads fitness data to keep your progress in sync. Specifically, this includes your steps, walking and running distance, and active energy. Heart rate is read from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS only — for example, from an Apple Watch during a run — and is used to show your average heart rate for that activity; heart rate is not collected on Android. We use this data only to sync your quests, challenges, and run statistics.
Health data is treated with special care. Data obtained through HealthKit or Health Connect is never used for advertising or marketing, is never sold to third parties, and is never shared with third parties for their own advertising or marketing.
HealthKit and Health Connect data is used only to provide Pyre Fitness features to you, and is handled in line with Apple and Google platform requirements.
You control this connection and can revoke it at any time in your device's Health settings.
5. We do not sell your data or track you across apps
Pyre Fitness does not sell your personal, health, fitness, or location data — to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
We do not rent or trade your personal information, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising. The data we collect is linked to your account and used only to make the App work. We share information only with the service providers described below, who process data on our behalf, and only when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.
6. Service providers
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate Pyre Fitness. They process data only as needed to deliver their service to us and are bound by their own terms and privacy commitments:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and push messaging.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — crash and diagnostics reporting.
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management.
- Mapbox and Google Maps — maps, trail routes, and run-route rendering.
- Google Gemini — AI processing that powers the Pyro assistant and AI meal scanning, including text prompts and meal images.
- Apple and Google platform services — App Store and Google Play distribution, in-app purchases, and (where you enable them) HealthKit and Health Connect.
This list may change as the App evolves; we will update this policy to reflect material changes.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the App and its features. Some data is kept longer where we are legally required to retain it, or where it is necessary for security, fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes.
When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or anonymize it. See the next section for what happens when you delete your account.
8. Account & data deletion
You can delete your Pyre Fitness account and associated data at any time:
- In the App: go to Settings → scroll to the Account section → Delete Account.
- By email: contact support@pyrefitness.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include the email or username tied to your account.
Deleting your account removes your account and its associated data from our active systems, except where retention is required by law or is needed for security or fraud-prevention purposes.
Backups: deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 45 days before it is permanently purged.
For a full walkthrough, see our Account Deletion page. Note that deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Apple App Store or Google Play subscription — you must cancel that separately through Apple or Google (see section 10).
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted infrastructure providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where your device supports it, we use Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to confirm sensitive actions such as deleting your account. This authentication is performed entirely by your device's operating system — Pyre never accesses, receives, or stores your biometric data.
If we ever become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.
10. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your information.
- Request a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@pyrefitness.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions purchased through the App are billed and managed by Apple or Google. To cancel a subscription, use your Apple App Store or Google Play account's subscription settings. Deleting your Pyre Fitness account does not cancel a store subscription.
11. Permission controls
Sensitive features are opt-in and stay under your control. You can grant or revoke each of these permissions at any time in your device settings or within the App:
- Location — required only for active run tracking, including background active runs.
- Camera & Photos — used for profile pictures, shared workout and run images, and AI meal scans.
- Contacts — optional, used transiently to help you find friends already on Pyre and to prefill SMS invites you choose to send to contacts who are not yet on Pyre. Processed on-device; not stored.
- Health data — optional HealthKit (iOS) / Health Connect (Android) sync of steps, walking and running distance, and active energy. Heart rate is read from Apple Health on iOS only (e.g. Apple Watch) to show your average heart rate for a run or workout.
- Notifications — reminders, streak alerts, and squad activity.
If you revoke a permission, the related feature may stop working, but the rest of the App will continue to function.
12. Children's privacy
Pyre Fitness is not intended for children under 13. Signup includes an age gate to prevent under-13 account creation. During signup, date of birth is used only to confirm that a user is at least 13; the full date of birth is not stored, and only an age-verification marker is retained. Users between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction should review this policy with a parent or guardian.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact support@pyrefitness.com and we will delete it promptly.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Pyre Fitness evolves or as the law requires. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of Pyre Fitness after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
